?Sarah! Why is my room so dirty??
?I don?t know mom thats YOUR room?
?Well clean it up!?
?Okay.?
That was my mom, she was rarely home. And if she did come home she would either be sleeping or yelling at me. During the day, she would work two jobs and at night she would go out and play poker with her ?friends?. I was always home alone, and I didn?t have any siblings.
I was in my room trying to do my homework when an idea popped into my head. Why would people want to go shopping when they could just press a button on their phone?! That?s it! I could start selling things online! I started setting up the website. Then I ordered a bunch of stuff that I think people would buy. I put things up for sale and then I went to bed.
The next morning I shot out of bed and immediately checked my laptop. I was disappointed in what I saw, only one person bought something. I thought a lot more people would buy stuff but I knew I had to be patient.
After school I got yelled at by my teacher for not doing my homework, I didn’t care. All I thought about was the website.
Right after school, I rode my bike to the post office.
I put the stuff the person had ordered in the mail and rode my bike straight home.
?Sarah! Where were you! Go to your room and do your homework!? My mom said right when I stepped into the house.
?Okay mom!? I told her. I didn’t want to argue with her.
I walked to my room and started ordering more stuff and putting them on sale, then I continued watching YouTube. I watched the other youtubers advertising different things. A light bulb popped into my head. I started right to work. I created a YouTube channel and then I got my phone out and started recording. I was going to review my things! Then people might see me on YouTube and then if they like my products then they could go buy then on my website! I spent the rest of the night filming and editing.
The next morning I was extremely tired and really needed sleep. I put on my school clothes and grabbed a banana then rode my bike to school.
School was the same, teachers yelling at kids, kids chewing gum in the classroom, and kids getting shoved into lockers. I just tried to stay away from everybody. I decided that it was easier being alone than dealing with people.
This was the day, the day I had been waiting for my whole life. The day I was going to escape this horrible ?home? of mine. I was able to save a decent amount of money by selling online. I could probably stay at a hotel for a couple of months. I spent the rest of the night packing my stuff. I barely got any sleep that night.
The next morning, I didn’t go to school but straight to the bus stop. I got on the first bus that came, I didn?t know exactly where i was going to go but I just decided I would sit in the bus until it stopped.
I fell asleep and woke up by the sound of the bus driver yelling at me to pay and get off. I gave him the money and found an old hotel to stay in for a while.
I went through tough times as I was living in the city. Nobody cared about me. My mother didn?t attempt to call or text me to ask where I was. She never asked how I was doing after I told her that ran away. I suffered, barely getting through each day. I begged for money and got small jobs to fund my online business. I grew up without proper education but I stayed focused on my customers.? Each and everyday I was getting more and more orders.
10 years later…
I sighed as I was leaving the office with my papers. It was a long time ago since my days in the cheap hotel. But my hard work and effort paid off. I was now slowly making my way to be the youngest self-made millionaire. I was only 25 but I was richer than my mother could ever imagine. I had everything I needed and sometimes I gave myself a little treat.
And yes, sometimes I did miss my mom after all she was my mom. But I knew that if she did care about me she would have contacted me. Time went on and as I grew older I became wealthier.
One day I was getting ready for work as usual when I heard a knock at the door.? I went to go see who it was. At first I didn’t remember who it was but it didn’t take me long to realize who it was.
?M-Mom?? I asked.
?Oh my sweet little girl Sarah.? She said in a soft and lovely voice.
No…I was not going to fall for it. I knew she only came for my money but I thought I would give her a second chance.
?Uh mom! Come inside!?
I took my mom to my house.
?So mom! How are you doing??
?I?m great hun but i just wanted to ask you so you know how I’ve been working jobs to afford rent? Well I got fired from my job a few months back and if I don’t pay rent this month I will get evicted.?
?Oh well I suggest you find a job soon.? I smiled.
?Yeah, well maybe you could lend your poor old mom some i mean you do have millions.?
?Sorry mom, I worked day and night to come to this spot and you never supported me and you never cared until now. I have to go. I will be late for work.?
I walked away as my guard escorted mom out.
She wasn?t there for me when I needed her, she doesn?t deserve my help when she needs me.
