Wakeboarding

Grade 5 ? Spring 2019

We were far away from land?.
?..far away from help
…far away from home.
As I slipped my feet into the wakeboard I was shaking.
What if I get hurt?
What if I drown?
What if?.
What if I get lost?
All these thoughts were buzzing around in my head.
I shivered?
My palms were sweating.

I looked out, only met by deep, deep, blue.
The waves wooshed.
The sea shook violently
White foamy water was everywhere.

My eyes widened. But, I didn’t come here for nothing. I knew I had to, so I shut my eyes tight and jumped, Into the deep, deep blue.

As I floated there, I grabbed the rope,
As I lay there with my feet held by the board
I waited for the signal.

?Are you ready?? the instructor asked.
I gave him a quiet nod,
Vrrrrmmmm! The engine buzzed.
Bzzzzzz! Hsssss!
Then the boat sped up I felt like I was flying.
I felt free!
The breeze hit my face,
The waves rushed by.

I didn?t care for the waves,
I didn?t care for the salt water in my eyes,
But I was free!
?Whoooooo!?

Then the boat slowed down and I came to a halt.
That was the craziest moment of my life!
I wanted to do it again!
