A Portrait Of Time

I woke up early in the morning and ran downstairs for breakfast. At the kitchen table was my sister and my parents waiting for me. My mother had my breakfast of cereal and orange juice waiting on the table for me.

?Good morning everyone!? I said as I sat down in my usual seat next to my sister. It was a Saturday and that meant no school! But sadly, we weren?t allowed to go anywhere outside the house because we were quarantined.

I decided to spend my day playing hide and seek with my sister and some other people I?m not gonna mention. I was running around the house when I found the perfect spot to hide. I looked around and saw a portrait on a wall.

The portrait was old and was dusty because it was covered by boxes and shoes. I stared at the picture and saw a picture of a little girl. I wondered who it was. Then I spotted the old statue behind the girl. I remembered that the statue was in the hallway.

Then everything started going crazy. The picture started moving and I could hear people talking. Suddenly I was pulled into the portrait. I screamed and closed my eyes.

When I opened my eyes, I became the girl in the picture! Everything became alive, things were moving, and people were talking. The people were just like a regular family.

I heard someone call for Becca. I looked around to see who Becca was. I didn’t see any other girls. The woman called for Becca again. The woman looked familiar. She looked like my mother but younger.

I noticed that the she was shouting toward me. I pointed at myself. I figured out that she was calling for me! I remembered that my mother’s name was Becca. That?s strange.

I followed the woman into the house, but it looked different from other homes. The colors were dull like dark brown, cream and tan. Everything seemed to be made out of wood. I saw an older woman dressed in a very pretty dress. She looked like my grandma.

The lady said ?It’s time for dinner!? I walked to her and she told me to go sit down. I walked into the dining room. There stood two tables. One for kids and one for adults. I went to go sit at the kitchen table with the kids. I listened a bit. I figured out that all the other kids were… my AUNTS & UNCLES!!!! So, the other tables must be my grandparents and great grandparents!

After dinner everyone lined up to wash their hands. When I was washing my hands I saw my reflection in the mirror. I screamed!!! ?AHHHHHH!!!!!? Everyone suddenly stared at me. I saw that I was my mother as a child.

My grandmother asked if I was ok. I said ? I-I?m O-O-OK.? I followed everyone outside. We were playing soccer. I was having a lot of fun. Then out of nowhere a ball hit my head hard. My face hit the ground? I fainted!!!

The next thing I remembered was that I woke up back at home with my mother next to me. ?W-wha-what happened?? I said curiously.

My mother said, ?I found you sleeping in the corner of my bedroom.?

I walked to the picture standing not too close. I asked my mother when this picture was taken.

She said ?This picture was taken when I was about your age, right before I got hit in the head by a soccer ball? My mouth opened wide. I was SHOCKED!!!
