White Phoenix

Fall 2020 ??????? Fifth Grade

I woke up. My aunt was shouting at me from outside the room. I twisted my body to face the wall. The paint was peeling off. I slowly crawled out of my bed and cricked open the closet door. I popped on a pair of ragged sweatpants, and a t-shirt two times bigger than my size. I then opened my room door slowly and walked down the stairs.

There was my aunt, uncle, and cousin were sitting at the table all dressed fancy. Uncle Barton was a rather fat man which covered his neck almost completely. He wore a suit which was dark blue. His light hair and eyes seem to pop out. Aunt Janice was very skinny and always bragged about her designer purses. Cousin Christopher or Chris for short was probably the most spoiled child on the street! If he didn?t get what he wanted, he would throw a huge tantrum. They always wore designer items, even their dog, Joe, had a Gucci leach!

Anyways, enough about them. Let’s get back to me now. I?m Kathrine or you can also call me Kathy. My parents died in a car accident when I was three, or that was what I was told since I was four.

It was a regular school day. I rode my crusty and stained secondhand bike from Chris. The bike was a navy blue, and it was covered with rust from top to bottom. Honestly, I was lucky to have a bike. Before Chris would ride this bike and it would always be shiny. However, when he received a $9,800 dollar bike from his aunt, he threw the bike away immediately. When I mean ?threw it away?, I mean he threw it off the balcony and into the pond. The bike is now crusty and gross, but I would rather use it than walk.

I was biking down the trail when a huge black bird swooped down and landed on my handle. I was so freaked out, that I turned a wrong corner into the woods and then? CRASH!

I was knocked off my bike and onto the ground. My leg scraped by the sticks and leaves. I looked at my legs and then my hands? they were all blood. As I panted, gasping for air, the bird sprung into the air into a spiral then opened its wings. I saw the most amazing thing ever. The bird?s inside wings were covered with jewels and shined brighter than ever. Suddenly, a huge light covered the bird it spun in a circle pattern, the light changed into different colors blue purple and many more.

The huge bird emerged from the light. It was different now – pretty and beautiful. It had bright white feathers and hints of pink and purple dashed through the wings. The bird had a huge diamond-like jewel on its forehead that shined like a star dazzling in the sky. It also had a blue and pink light glowing behind its wings. The bird paused for a second and stared at me. Then it came darting down and I realized that the bird was not a bird that should be messed with. It flew faster than any bird I ever saw and a trail of light flashes behind its body as it flies.

The bird stopped dead on its tracks as it saw my face. It stayed like that for a few seconds before flying back in the air chirping happily. I don’t really know what it was doing but it certainly looked happy. The bird then came darting down at me and grabbed the collar of my shirt. It yanked me up into the air and flew deep in the forest. At that moment half of me was trying to fight the bird, but the other half was amazed by the view from the top of the forest.

All of a sudden, the bird stopped in midair and mumbled something I couldn?t hear then a massive portal was revealed. The bird flew straight in the portal then the portal slowly closed. In the portal was nothing like you could imagine. It was beautiful. The land inside was covered with color and their technology looked so advanced like everything was from the future! The only thing odd about this place was that everything was floating in the air. But no one cares about that anyways.

The bird flew toward a huge building which I would later recognize as a castle or what they happen to call it here ca-zle-let. Weird name but it’s what they call it, and I won?t argue with that. When the bird got closer to the castle, the doors started to open leading into a huge room. The room was full of color red, orange, yellow, green, blue every color! The room led into many different hallways but turns out the bird was probably too lazy so it just disappeared.

Somehow, I was still being carried but was slowly coming down until I was standing on the red carpet floor. I gazed around the room until my eye was fixed on a human-like figure sitting on a throne. I quickly realized who it was and bent down. The huge bird appeared on a stick next to the throne. The human-like creature stood up and walked closer to me. When it was standing a couple inches away from me, it stood still for a very long time looking over me.

The next thing I realized was the human-like creature had me tied to a chair. I saw directly in front of me were two people, both dead, in a glass tube. The tube was labeled with two names?

?Nathaniel McClair and Nancy McClair,? said the human-like creature in a very low voice.

I gasped remembering the name I had once heard as a child.

?Are they m-my parents?? I said as I pushed the words out my mouth.

The creature nodded sadly as it walked away giving me space. I stared into the tubes both my parents’ eyes laid shut still in the tube, not moving. I slowly felt as if my body could not hold me anymore. I started to fall ending up on my knees crying my hands up in my face.

The creature came towards me after a little while and helped me up. It opened its left arm then the bird flew and landed on its arm. The bird tweeted a symphony that echoed through the room. The creature then closed its eyes and snapped its fingers. A strong shining light filled the room blinding everything from sight. Then I felt my body disappear into the air leaving only a pile of dust behind.
